The Denim Frenzy continues with new Justice Crew Jackets
10 August, 2012
Ever since we have launched denim sleeves into our range we have been so obsessed with showing it to schools and putting denim sleeves on all our celebrity jackets. We are so obsessed that we even asked Justice Crew to give back the first two sets of jackets we ever did for them so that we could change the sleeves to denim, put on denim applique letters, add their embroidered names and print the Justice Crew logo on the back. We loved using a new shiny silver denim we found and can't wait to see photos of how this will look on stage until the bright lights.
If you look at the photos of the original jackets we produced it is amazing to see how far we have progressed in the decoration methods and fabrics we have been able to use for our celebrity jackets. Because the celebrity jackets are a lot smaller quantities and shorter lead times than school jackets we have had to source and make everything locally. This can be really challenging as there is not a large selection of suitable fabrics to purchase in Australia and only a limited number of machines capable of doing the decoration we want to use.
I think because of these limitations and challenges we face it really pushes us to think outside the square as to what fabrics we use and decoration methods we try. At first we looked at offering leather sleeves but we have found that the selection of leather is even smaller than the denims we have been able to source. They are also a lot more restrictive in the colours and designs you can buy. Sourcing unusual denim has become almost a hobby for our team and wherever we are in Australia or overseas we are constantly popping into fabric stores on the off-chance they may have an unual denim we can use.
