Fashion Tech fitness socks by Sensoria

The latest fashion trends employed by high end designers seems to be wearable technology or fashion tech for those more computer savvy people. Fashion tech is basically any wearable form of technology whether it be in your bag or on your person.

There are many apps and heart monitors that can measure your heart rate, steps you’ve taken, etc. But did you know there are now fitness socks that allow you to do this?

That’s right. There is a relatively new fashion tech product made by Sensoria called the ‘Sensoria Fitness Sock’. Your style of walking or running along with your cadence can be recorded by these socks. They can also tell you whether you are going to make a move that could cause you to injure yourself. These socks are also smart enough to compare shoes for you. Odour control is also a bonus with these socks.

How do these fitness socks work?

Textile sensors are incorporated in the design to detect such things as the way you run and how you land.

An anklet also comes with the socks which is designed to wirelessly send data the socks collect to an app on your phone. This anklet may look bulky (see picture) but it is light weight so will not interfere with your running or walking too much. Data that has been collected then allows you to determine how you might change your running style to get the most out of your exercise regime. Shown below are the socks, the anklet and the app which is all interconnected.

So, if you enjoy exercise but want to improve your running style then these socks are for you. Unfortunately, they are not the cheapest pair of socks. But these socks are well worth the money for those of us that enjoy morning runs around the block.
