Post-grads – university is done, now it is job finding time! Now I could happily go on and on about the way employers are supposed to conduct interviews (with a panel of interviewers to avoid interviewer bias, they should take into consideration a number of factors about the potential employee including their resume and how they answer interview questions etc. etc.) but at the end of the day an employer will make up their mind about you in the first few minutes based on their first impressions (it’s true there are studies on it). Therefore, if you attend a job interview you need to be sharply dressed. So to get you through your job interview in snazzy style behold my job interview outfit ideas!

Ladies

Outfit 1: Black dress pants, a collared shirt and jacket if it is cold. You can also switch out the coloured shirt for a nice flowy blouse. Remember you don’t need to stick to black however, neutral colours and better so like blue, brown, grey, white is suitable. Though I did read somewhere that women get taken more seriously in the workplace if they wear black, so I suppose by that logic black = super pro look = job.

Outfit 2: You could also switch out the black pants for a black skirt, plus a blouse and jacket.

Outfit 3: Business-y dress, probably a good idea to also stick with black or dark colours. Remember make sure that the length and style is work appropriate, I would recommend no shorter than knee length ladies. Ah but where shall I find such dresses? Let’s see Portmans, Cue, Myer, Target the list goes on!

Gentleman

Outfit: Well guys no dress or skirt options for you – so nice pants and a collared shirt it is! A jacket of course if weather permits. And depending on the type of job you are interviewing for a more casual nice jeans, coloured shirt and jacket look may also suffice!
