Our team is constantly scouring the globe on the look out for the hottest new trends happening in fashion. While you wouldn’t think garments which are going to be part of a school uniform would follow trends you would be surprised at how what is happening in retail fashion impacts the style of garments students want for their leavers jerseys. We definately saw this in 2010 when we first started making our baseball jackets. Celebrities like Justin Bieber and Usher were seen wearing varsity style jackets and then next thing you know they were hitting retail stores around the World. This in turn creates a flow-on affect where students want a Year 12 garment that is retail quality and on trend. Our baseball jackets are still the number one selling garment in our range 4 years down the track and more classical garments like Year 12 Rugby Jerseys are ordered less and less!

It is for this reason that we monitor the fashion weeks from around the World and see what is trending. This week is New York Fashion Week and as we scrolled through our instagram feed we were so excited to see the looks for the Rag & Bone runway show photos from their Fall/Winter Collection 2014. It looks like the retro Americana trend looks like it here to stay for a while longer. The Rag & Bone Collection featured personalised bomber jackets and bowling shirts embroidered with the names of the supermodels modelling their collection. Models included Georgia May Jagger and Karlie Kloss.

What will be interesting to see is whether or not Rag & Bone will offer personalisation to the consumer on their jackets once they hit the stores. At the moment personalised garments seems to be limited to online ordering or bulk ordering. You do have some high-end fashion brands like Louis Vuitton offering monogram initials on some of their range but we are yet to see it in the mass market. With the constant demand from consumers for personalised and custom items we don’t think it will be long until you will be able to walk into a store, buy a jacket and have your name put on it. We are just hoping it will be our jacket you will be buying!
