A while ago we wrote this blog post introducing high school formal dress rental and about why it’s a great option for finding something to wear to events. In short, it’s an easy, economical way to get your hands on a gorgeous dress without all the strings attached. As a follow up from our previous post, we’re showcasing the best places to rent a high school formal dress in Australia.

Since most formal dress-rental companies are based on online orders and postage, there aren’t many in-store options. This is probably a good thing because then you won’t have to leave your bed to get your hands on a stunning designer dress. We’ve created a list of all the top dress rental destinations to make it even easier!

Without further ado, let’s get into the best places to rent dresses in Australia and our favourite high school formal dresses from them.

Her Wardrobe

Her Wardrobe is a great place to start looking when renting formal dresses. They work by postage and many dresses to choose from. Their range includes not only dresses but millinery and accessories so you’ll be ready for anything! The prices start at $79 and include designers such as Nicholas and Yeojin Bae. Something we like about Her Wardrobe is that if your dress doesn’t fit you’re able to organize a replacement size or style simply by e-mailing customer care, which not all companies do. They also sell the ex-rental dresses at huge discounts!

Glam Corner

If you’re after a huge range of high school formal dresses to choose from featuring Alex Perry and Zimmerman then look no further than Glam Corner. Because of the variety of different dresses on offer at Glam Corner, you’re sure to find something that you like in their array of dresses. There’s an option to filter by body type, which can come in handy if you’re unsure what dress you’re looking for. Again, if your dress doesn’t fit you can get a new size or a full refund and you can add a ‘back up dress’ to your order for just $15. They also allow you try on up to 2 dresses for $30 and send them back the next day. They also offer a variety of other services like free over-the-phone consults. Prices start at $39.

Your Closet

Your Closet also has a great selection of pieces from Alex Perry and Thurley, with a carefully curated collection. The selection isn’t as extensive but the dresses they do have are gorgeous so we recommend you check them out! You’re also able to filter by body type and have accessories on offer. Although they have a slightly smaller selection they do have a wider range of sizes. If you’re having trouble finding your size on the other sites, have a look here. They also have a selection of accessories and clutches to help finish off your look. Prices start from $89.

Rent a Dress

If you’re looking for a cheaper option, Rent a Dress may be a good option. The company doesn’t own the dresses, but provides a way for dress-owners to list their formal dresses for rent. Because of this, the prices are a lot cheaper but you won’t have the insurance of having a company behind it, but if you’re on a tight budget then we definitely recommend this service. If you damage the dress, you will be responsible for it as there’s no insurance since you’re contacting the owner directly. Prices will tend to start from about $39. If you’re on the other end, this is also a great way to make back some of the cash you spent on a dress if you’re wanting to rent it out!

Something Borrowed

Something Borrowed has since grown to include a team of fashion-dedicated young women and various locations around the country. Unlike some of the other options, Something Borrowed has boutiques in Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide but do not offer the option to have your dress posted to you. If you’re in these cities then you should definitely consider Something Borrowed as you’ll be able to go to the store, get free style advice and try on the dresses as opposed to just see them listed online. They have a wide selection of designers including Alex Perry and Carla Zampatti. Prices start from about $99.
