Attention all year 10, 11 and 12 students in Queensland – are you interested in working in the agricultural industry? Love being out in open country fields? Love working with animals? Love the great outdoors? Yes – then The Agricultural Skills and Technology Experience (TASTE) might be just what you have been looking for!
- What is TASTE?
TASTE is a program run for high school students aged 15 and up during the school holidays at local colleges. Its purpose is to help teenagers learn about career options available in the rural and agricultural industries and insight into the practical skills training and technology involved.
- What do you do there?
Lots of cool things like get hands on experience working on their farm-scale properties, learn how to feed and care for livestock like sheep and cows, learn how to operate rural machinery and equipment, checkout the science and technology involved in agricultural processes and did I mention that you can ride motor cycles, quad bikes and horses?!
- Why should you go?
You get to meet other like-minded people who are also interested in agriculture, you get hands on experience, you can meet with and learn from experience instructors and learn about training and career opportunities that are available to you.
- Where is this going to be?
At Longreach Pastoral College and Emerald Agricultural College.
- When will this start?
Longreach Pastoral College has 2 programs available on the 25-29 of June and 17-21 of September. Emerald Agricultural College has 2 programs available on the 2-6 of July and the 24-28 of September – cost is $450. There is also a chance to see both colleges on the 3-8 of December – cost is $500.
