Ahhh the dilemma you don’t think of until the very last minute – what sort university bag you should buy. It’s an important decision, this bag you buy will be the thing you drag around uni with you, on buses, too classes, it will hold your books and your lunch – and at some point you will probably throw it across the room in frustration – i.e. during exam time. So seeing as it is such an important part of your uni life I have compiled a list of considerations to think about to help you seek out the best uni bag for you!
When choosing a university bag consider:
- Laptop bag or a book bag: are you a laptop person or notebook person? Personally I’m a notebook person because I don’t like dragging my laptop around, it’s heavy. Others like having their laptop/tablet/other minicomputer thingy with them at all times.
- Size: Ensure that your bag is large enough to hold your university supplies – if it’s big enough to hold a notebook it’s good.
- Material: you’d be surprised how much uni stuff you will need and how heavy it can all be, thus you will need a bag made of good sturdy material like a thick fabric, leather or good quality pleather.
- Pockets: Does it have enough extra pockets? For your phone, your keys, charger etc.
- Colour: nothing worse than clashing colours, if you’re anything like me and your morning dress-up routine consists of ‘oh this is clean’ then I would highly recommend a neutral tone that will happily go with whatever outfit you find yourself in – black, white, grey, brown, beige all work. Also multi-coloured or print bags are good too as they tend to blend in with any outfit.
- Style: what’s your bag style? Boho chic? Plain and functional? Super sparkly? Your uni bag isn’t like any old school bag that you buy because you have to, it’s a personal item something with a little you in it – so have a bit of fun checking out different styles.
