Alfie’s Friendship Struggles

The main action based around Alfie this episode is the group dynamic in his circle of friends. He notes that he already knows the friends he’s not going to see after school and the one’s he’s hopefully going to keep. He says he had been friends with some people since his first year at school, but is finding it hard to find a reason to maintain their relationship. He says that half his group isn’t mature and he sees a rift starting to happen.

This is an issue for many people in their final year. The combination of stress from the final year as well as the shaping of young adults, makes same friendships strain and others flourish. A lot of the time, the majority of people you hang out with at school, simply fade out after high-school and the ones that remain, stay strong for life.

Chelsea’s Party Past

A small snippet of this episode focused on regrets. Chelsea shares her regret of her earlier years of partying and being a part of the drinking scene. She says that there are many things she did in that period of her life that she regrets. However, she also says how glad she is to come out of it before her final year so she can study hard and get a good job and degree. She sees that some of her friends are starting to slip in party culture and fears that they will have nothing after school if they don’t get good grades.

Charlie’s Formal Issues

Charlie finally drives down to Adelaide to attend his friend Jade’s formal. He enjoys the night but shares his concern of what Jade expects in return. He has already agreed to take another friend to his own formal and he feels Jade getting curious about Charlie’s intentions. Charlie, like many of the students, also has disagreements with his parents. He states he can’t wait to get out of his small country town and away from his parents.
