Before we all know it, the next set of HSCs have already arrived. The nervousness, the wait, the anxiousness, it’s all here. But most importantly, the pride in yourselves for coming and pushing through this far. However guess what comes after HSCs? Surprise surprise it’s time for Schoolies!!!

Yep, the well deserved time to let off a whole lot of steam that has been building up over the past two years. However, you do want to remember those two monumental weeks for all the right reasons. And to do so, you need to be ready for anything that comes your way. To help you out on deciding what to take, here is a list of things that might be useful putting into that bag that’s coming with you on the trip (in terms of clothes and body care).

List of Must-haves for Schoolies

1. Underwear

Make sure if you are going away for 14 days, you have at least 15 pairs of underwear. Its gonna be hot and sunny and there’s just not going to be enough time to wash and use so be prepared.

2. Hat and sunscreen

Let’s face it. The Aussie sun is beautiful but its just not going to be nice enough on your skin. So if you do want to make the most out of possibly one of your most memorable beach experiences, take them along.

3. Denim shorts

Denim shorts can be your best friend through out the trip. They can be worn for atleast 3 days without washing. Thus taking along a pair or 2 (or even more) is a very good idea.

4. Clothes

For those who don’t fancy shorts, breezy skirts or a nice summer dress would do the same.

5. Prepacked Food

It doesn’t necessarily come under clothes but I’d argue it does come under body care. When you are running low on cash, or you don’t have anywhere to go for an affordable early breakfast, these prepacked meals can be your savior. Whether nachos, microwavable food, cheese and bread or granola bars, it is a good idea to stock up on such dry food before you leave. Or even getting your mum or dad to make frozen meals does the job.

6. Comfortable shoes or thongs

Lets face it, you are going to be on your feet most of the time. Whether you are off to a party or to the beach, you need to be comfortable to jump and roam about. Comfortable shoes like ballet flats or slip ons, or thongs are good idea to keep your feet away from pain.

7. Beach towel and sunnies

This should be self explanatory as it can save the day in a lot of cases. And obviously, you do need a towel now don’t you? As for sunnies, well… unless you want to be looking at the blaring sun and damaging your eyes, it is recommendable to take a pair with you.

8. A little first aid kit containing band aids and Panadol among other things.

Whether its a hangover or headache from too much sun exposure, you need panadol to get to a quick recovery. And just in case you obtain little injuries…just in case

9. Outfits

Just like underwear, it is sensible to pre plan an outfit for each day. Just so that you don’t over pack or under pack.

10. Standard toiletries and medicines.

Deodorant, tooth brush/paste, shower gel…. Whatever you need on a daily basis that you would feel dirty without. As for medicines, if you do have a pre existing condition that requires regular medication (such as asthma), go down to your doctor and get everything you need to ensure your health is at its best.

These are just the basics that are essential to ensure a smooth trip in terms of body care and attire. Its best to write out a big list that consists of everything you must take, from travel documents, money, IDs etc. Because you don’t want to be buying or borrowing something important during a hectic trip. And most importantly, to make the most out of your grad trip, stay safe at all costs. Because nothing is as important as your safety. Know where you are going, stay within your boundaries and everything will be just fine. Have a fun (goodlooking) and memorable trip guys and girls! Peace out!
